Gabriel and Lisa (?) Olson, Tromso, Norway
Parents of Nicolai Martin Gabrielsen b. 12-24-1836 in Tromso, d. 4-14-1914 of “myocardial senility”. Buried Kandiyohi Co. MN, Pioneer Union Cemetary
M. Ellen (maiden name unknown). She died of small pox in Norway, date unknown.

There were several children, including:

Elize b.? d. 1938, buried in Excelsior, MN. (Nicolai brought Elize to America. She married John Clofer. They had a son, Clarence. Clarence died in an explosion on a Navy ship in Florida on the way home at the end of World War I. The VFW Post in Excelsior is named for him.)

Nicolai met Gunhild Sievertson in Chicago. He did not tell her about Elize until after their marriage. Elize was nine years old at the time.

Bill was a colorful character and well documented in the Kandiyohi County Historical Society, where a telescope he built is on display. Bill also built his own steamboat that he used to ship people to parties on islands in the lakes during prohibition. Bill’s accomplishments were made even more remarkable due to disabilities, including an amputated arm. Family lore says he discovered the planet Pluto, but didn’t receive the credit for it.
