I am so running around in circles. William John Fuge B. 1865 in Devon, England is my grandfather. Apparently his mother's name was Elizabeth. I have an 1880 US Census stating a William Fuge as a step son to John Wedge. I have confirmed this is my William through is dates and I also have an obituary notice saying he is survived, by sister Ida Jenkins (step daughter to John),list as Ida Fuge on the census. It list James Wedge b. 1878. James and also a brother Cyrus are listed on the obit. I can't find anything on Cyrus. My main area is Elizabeth/William/Ida and father (unknown). I have through differencing census reports of arrival for William 1972 and 1880. Elizabeth is listed as arrival 1872. The only Elizabeth (listed as Eliza Fuge, wife) and William together arrived on the City of Montreal on Aug. 19, 1872, ages are really close. William would have been 7 in Nov (listed age 7) and Elizabeth would have been 28 the following april (I believe she was born in April). Ida was born 3 yrs later listed as Fuge. I have found two William Fuges born in the same year same middle inital. On an 1871 English Census there is a William Fuge 6 listed as a grandson of John Hooper (40) m. Mary Ann (35). Funny thing is as that I have came across some family trees that Lists John Wedge m. Elizabeth Hooper. I haven't been able to link the two I thought I found it but didn't save it. I have look in the 1871 England Census and found both Elizabeth Hooper and Elizabeth Fuge as servants. My problem other than I can't find the father of William is if this Elizabeth is connected to John and Mary Ann, Mary Ann would have been 14 yrs old when Elizabeth was born. Is she illegitimate? Big question. I'm so getting a headache. Does anyone know of a way to find birth records with parents names on it from England. I have an uncle there serving with the Salvation Army in London that is will to look if I can point him in the right direction. Any help would be appreciated.
