I see that Ron has found an answer to something that had been bothering me: Evaline "Sworts" and an 18-year-old "Sworts" living with Archibald Ford in the 1860 census, along with two younger girls whose last names were not filled in but whom Ancestry's digitizers list as "Ford." The FamilySearch "Individual Record" for Archibald, which Ron attached to Archibald this past week, shows Archibald marrying Evaline "Swartz" 20 Dec. 1859. (Where did FamilySearch get that specific date, I wonder? Is there a marriage certificate or some other written record?)

Maybe if you were married within the year, you had to list the maiden or former surname of the wife on the census instead of her married name? The children are presumably indeed the children of Mr. Sworts/Swartz.

Interestingly, the FamilySearch record says that Archibald was born in Champaign Co.--not in Union Co., where Durant (History of Union County, 1883, p. 391) has L&P settling "about 1829." We already know that L&P were married in Urbana Twp., Champaign Co., around 1831, so if Archibald was born in Champaign Co. in 1833, that delays their presence in Union Co. by at least another 2 years. But what is FamilySearch's evidence for Archibald's birthplace? Is there a birth certificate or some other written record?
