William Foley and his wife Ellen O'Conner Foley allegedly emigrated to the United States in about 1840. They were farmers and family lore has that they lived in the Dingle area. They may have emigrated from Canada to Wisconsin as so many of my Irish relatives did. We can't find much about their route. Once they got here, they became civic leaders and affluent. If any one has information on how to find out about William and Ellen, I would appreciate it. Finding a Foley in Ireland is like finding a needle in a haystack.
