Hi Stephanie:

We are very likely distantly related but unless you can get more information about your father, we will never be able to make a connection. His birth certificate should give the names of his parents and once you have them, you should be able to get information about your grandparents. Your grandparents death certificates should tell you where they were born and the names of their parents.

My maternal grandparents lived in Milwaukee from the early 1900's to the late 1950's when they died. I heard that he had Fischer cousins that lived in the Milwaukee area. A couple of time I heard my grandparents talk about them, but I never paid much attention to the conversation. My grandfather's mother (maiden name) was Rozalia Fischer. His father was Jan Illy.

Rozalia had five brother and sisters. You are probably descended from one of them.

They all came from a small town called Hochstetno (now called Vysoka pri Morave) which is about 10 miles west of Bratislava, Slovakia and on the Austrian border. They all came to America in the early 1900's before World War I.

If you can provide me with more information, maybe I will be able to make a link with my family tree.
