YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – A funeral service celebrating the life of Mrs. Mary B. Fenderson Cooper will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at the Mt. Zion Baptist Church. Mrs. Cooper departed this life Tuesday, August 27, 2013 at Hospice House in Poland, Ohio. (Mahoning County)
Mrs. Cooper was born Feb. 20, 1921, in Coatopa, Alabama, a daughter of Horace and Mary Phillips Fenderson, coming to the valley many years ago.
She was a faithful member of the church, where she served on the Senior Usher Board, Senior Mission and Sunday school. She was a dedicated homemaker who will be missed by those who knew and loved her.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her loving children, Cephuse Cooper and Louise Cooper, both of Youngstown and Frederick and his wife, Regina Cooper of Newburg, Indiana; her sisters, Odessa Fenderson and Shirley Fenderson, both of Tuscaloosa, Alabama; her grandchildren, Corey Phillips, Jonathan Dixon and Frederick Cooper Jr.; her great-granddaughter, Madison Foster; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; six sisters, Eunice Ayers, Essie Mae Clark, Fannie Mae White, Rosa Bell Smith, Julia Perry and Viola Halbert; and four brothers, Fred, Isaac “Ike,” Horace Jr. and Willie Fenderson.
The family will receive friends Friday one hour prior to services at the church.
Interment will be at Belmont Park Cemetery.
