All the reactions about the Federspiel name and information are dated nearly a decade ago. C Huber said there was a federspiel website. As a genuine federspiel with the name going back to Prussia, does anyone have the information about the website? I would appreciate it.
Incidentally the name means "falconry" that is, the sport of falcronry using a falcon or other bird of prey as a trained hunter. The air force academy uses a falcon on a leash as its mascot. The Federspiels are found throughout Europe, especially in southern Germany, the Innsbrook area of Austria and northern Italy (i.e., where there are mountains and falconry can be practiced easily), but there was a prominent Danish politician in the 1940's (Per Federspiel), there is a large group in the Trier area of Germany, and I have even run into a Federspiel group that were Volgadeutsche, i.e., those who settled in the Ukraine and southern Russia.
