Ray Kloss Farris

Passed away peacefully at home on January 2, 2007. He was born July 16, 1909 in Cananea, Mexico. He was the son of a mining engineer and grew up in Terra Buena, Sutter County, during the Great Depression. He valued education and worked his way through San Jose State University where he majored in economics. He worked at Worley's Bakery and Agnew State Hospital to support himself. He was past president of the San Jose Life Underwriters Association. He worked for New York Life for 50 years and was one of their top national agents. He also was an avid real estate investor. He started investing in local properties at 26 years of age and then expanded to Mobile Home Parks. He was past President of the Tri-County Apartment House Association. He was active in religious organizations such as Serra International and became a Knight of Malta.
Those who knew him recall his positive attitude and living each day to the fullest. Some of his favorite sayings include "Never Give Up," "What the mind can perceive, the heart can believe, you can achieve," "If God and your spouse are with you, who could ever be against you," and " You have two choices in life: Be Happy or Be Unhappy."
