Rosary will be said at 6 p.m. Monday in Memorial Park Funeral Home Chapel of Memories. Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery.
Mr. Fajardo was born June 1, 1924, in Santa Rosa, N.M. He joined the U.S. Army in 1943, and served in the Battle of Normandy, Battle of the Bulge and Ardennes Rhineland, where he received five Bronze Stars and a Purple Heart. He was honorably discharged in 1945.
Mr. Fajardo married Juanita Leos on Sept. 24, 1951. She preceded him in death in 2009. He worked for Santa Fe Rail Road for 38 years before his retirement in 1984. After retirement he enjoyed fishing, gardening and spending time in New Mexico with his wife, Juanita. He was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church.
He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Angie; a son, Christopher; and two brothers.
Survivors include four sons, Raymond Fajardo and wife Maria, Joe Fajardo Jr. and wife Helen, John Fajardo and wife Lisa, all of Amarillo and Rudy Fajardo and wife Dora of Royse; a daughter, Rose Harvin and Husband Paul of Amarillo; brothers, Al, Johnny and Gene; two sisters, Connie and Nea; 10 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
