This summer I went to the cemetery in Crediton, Huron County, Ontario where Gottlieb and Caroline are buried. Gottlieb is my Great Great Grandfather. The name and date on tombstone is: Gottlieb Fahner
June 29, 1846
December 24, 1937
Also: Caroline Wein
March 5, 1849
January 25, 1914
At Rest
I have found the dates and spelling above to differ from different sources. This is exactly what is written on the tombstone.
To the right of Gottlieb's tombstone is an old stone that is very hard to read. It is white in colour and has been repaired at some time. It reads: Jacob Fahrner
April 1804
April 1898??(Year could be wrong.)
There is an inscription at the bottom.
It reads: Von Baiersbronn in Wurtenberg.
Kam ich an diesen Ont.
Und num bin ichim Himmel reidi
Und warte auf euch dart.
Directly in front of Gottlieb's stone is one marked FAHNER.
It reads: FAHNER
DECEMBER 5, 1932
Is Caroline a sister of Jacob? I don't know.
There a lot of german names in the cemetery. One of them is Finkbeiner. If you go on their web site about their reunion it mentions the cemetery. It mentions that some of the trees in the cemetery came from the Black Forest.
I am related to Gottlieb through his son Lewis.
How are you related to him?
