Mr. Rongen, I very much appreciate your response although I am still not sure this is the same branch. It is so similar, however, that I think it is possible. My great-grandfather, Knudt Gullickson Fadness was born at Voss Norway on February 22, 1847. He came to America in 1853 and would have then been 7 years old, so I assume that he came with his parents. My history says that Gullick Fadness was married to Martha ??? and he settled on a farm in Columbia County, Wisconsin. The family later moved to Estherville, Iowa in Emmett county. Knudt fought in the Civil War and was in the 45th Wisconsin Regiment. He was married to Synneva Brugjeld (daughter of Lars Brugjeld) who was born on July 16th, 1843 at Tingums Sogn, Balestrand Norway. She emmigrated to the US in 1863 and came to Estherville, Iowa where she met Knudt. They had 11 children, Gullick, Martha, Maria, Lars, Ingeborg (Angie), Anna, Helge (my grandfather) Christian, Julianna, Gullick, and Gulinda. The two Gullicks and Gulinda died in childhood. Martha and Anna moved to Canada, the rest lived in South Dakota and Washington state. My grandfather moved to Perkins County, South Dakota and homesteaded in 1902.They had 4 living children and 15 grandchildren. One of my sisters still lives on this homestead.
I would enjoy talking with you further about this branch of the family and try to understand why Knudt's wife's name is different in your account.
