Hi Amy,

We are related. Daniel was my husband, Robert's grandfather. His father Steve and Harvey were first cousins.
I may have met your husband, Scott several years ago when my son and I visited with Harvey and Irene.

Recently we have been in touch with Eremias and Temiaks in the Slovak Republic trying to find out more about this family. The Temiaks have some knowledge of English and the Eremias do not. My daughter bought a Slovak/English dictionary in order to communicate with them. This past week we have trying to find a way to send money to them for purchasing of documents. So far, no luck. Someone suggested that we go to an international airport and see if we can get some type of money order.

These people know very little about the family that came to the US.

On the Ellis Island website, there are several other Eremias' that went to the Johnstown, PA area from Slovakia. Last week I sent for copies of their marriage licenses to see if that will help to identify if they are family or not. This surname is not a popular one like Smith, Jones, etc.

Harvey is the one that told us the correct spelling of our surname or we wouldn't have been able to go any further than Joseph and Susanna. On theirs and Daniels tombstones the name is spelled Armiesh. On their naturalization papers the name is spelled Arameish. On important documents my late father-in-law would spell it this way, but at other times he would shorten it like Harvey and his father. We use Arameish.
Of course, we always get asked if we are from the religious sect, the Amish!
