I am researching the following names:

DUB, (Dubb, Dupp) I believe the name was changed to sound more German or French, depending upon who controlled the country at the time.. Name also shortened from ???
MEREK, (Mark or Merk) May be related to Merrick of STARK family.
STEPHAN, (Stephen)

+Barbara MEREK, b. abt. 1835( in Germany ?)-- d: Bef. 1897 Where is she buried? Who are her parents? (We think Anton MARK is her father based on an 1870 census).

Peter DUB & Barbara MEREK's Children are:

The godparents names of Barbara, nee MEREK, DUB, and PETER DUB's children. ...
Do these names sound familiar to anyone? Location is Lake County, Indiana, 1850's.

BARBARA MEREK, aka. MERK, MARK, MERRICK, may be related to MERRICK of STARK family. (Barbara's husband is PETER DUB, b. 1829)
1870 Census lists Anton MARK, age 77, living with Peter DUB (listed in census as TUBB), age 44 and Barbara, age 44 (Husband and wife) and Peter, age 18, and Barbara, age 14 (the children). We assume that Anton is Barbara's father. See copy of census here:
