My grandmother, Annie Eichelberger, was Robert's neice. Her father was the oldest brother and his name was William. He married Lillian Luke in 1900 and they were divorced soon after in Seattle. William was a cigar make who died suddenly in 1908, at New Westminster, BC. He moved to Canada to remain close to his only child.
I have correspondence with the General's wife who described the family tree from the 1800's including a branch that emigrated to Australia. It is interesting to note that the General also sponsored peacetime activities, in particular the Eichelberger Humane Award. George Bernard Shaw was a recipient in 1935.
I can confirm the connection through letters and documents including Robert's and William's father's original will. As the oldest, William was tasked with the disbusements. Fortunately this will names all the surviving family members at the time. other's name was Sarah Conway.
