Edge origin - Edge, Malpas, Cheshire?

There is a thread on the origin of the Edge family below but David Edge's first post was in 1999, so Im starting a new one. My xgreatgrandfather was a David Edge too, b.1852.
I think one origin of the Edge name was, in fact, the village of Edge which David visited, and as he says it is very tiny. I looked it up on Google Earth. Even in 1841 census there were 19 Edge households in Malpas, Cheshire, and Edge families still living in Edge village then. That is quite a large concentration of Edge families for such a rural area.

The places our 1800 - 1820's Edge's gave as birthplaces on census were all in that area. Even today they are not much more than a farm and a few buildings. I suspect the differences were just a matter of moving employment from one farm to another.

Many of our Edge's were christened and married at St Oswald's, Malpas, so that might be a good place to look for anyone suspecting Cheshire Edge origins.

I haven't found any of our branch of the family leaving for America or Canada so far.

I have most of our family tree from John Edge who married Ann Midculf at St Oswald's, Malpas in 1805, and am trying to find the connections between the Malpas Edge families before that now, so if anyone can help me out there I'd be grateful. There were so many George's, Mary's and John's etc. it is quite a challenge to sort them out.

I'd be happy to share what I have with anyone tracking Edge families from Malpas, and it would be interesting to learn what people know of their branches too.
