I have several George Duke entries in my family tree, which includes Dukes from Newark, Wise County, Texas, with several of them buried in Dido Cemetary there. Following is an excerpt from “Dido: One Hundred Thirty-Two Years of Community Development 1840-1972”

(Pages 26-27)

George W. Duke moved from Aurora to the Dido Newark area about 1880. Mr. Duke promoted land investments and became manager of the Trinity Valley Farm Loan Co. during the days of water conservation and lake development. He was the father of two sons: Edgar of Fort Worth and George W. of Arlington. His daughters were Dessie (Mrs. Chester Brammer, deceased), Edith (Mrs. C.T. Kidd of Arlington), Neva (Mrs. Hop Lassiter of Oklahoma), and Luella (Mrs. Joe Groves of Houston). Mr. and Mrs. Duke are buried at Dido and their descendents still maintain an active interest in the Dido Cemetery.

The John Duke family also lived at Dido around the turn of the century. Their farm home was across the road from the L.P. Lowry place. John and Nora Duke had two sons, Leonard and Willard, who occasionally attend the Dido Homecoming. They also had a daughter, Geneva (Bee) who lives at Euless. She, too, attends the Homecoming.
