In looking for information about Hudson Downs and his wife Sarah Taylor I came across info that may be of interest to some of you. First, though, Hudson Downs lived in St. Louis, Missouri in the 1850s through at least the 1890s. He was steamboat pilot, as was his father-in-law Tom Taylor. Hudson was also head of Union steamboat transportation in St. Louis during the Civil War. I'd appreciate any info on these folk anyone might have.
Here's a line of descent on Hudson Downs and a related one dating from the American Revolution:
Ebenezer Leavenworth (1734-78) served as lieutenant of militia in the Danbury raid. He was born and died in Woodbury, Connecticut.
Ebenezer Levenworth married Elizabeth Hurd.
Lemuel Downs (1750-98 married Sarah Leavenworth, their daughter.
____ Downs, Lemuel's son married Betsy ___.
William Downs, their son, married Sophronia Parsons.
They were the parents of Hudson Lemuel Downs, who married Sarah Taylor (the people I'm looking for).
Their daughter, Lizzie Downs, b. St. Louis, married Horace Gillespie Dravo.
The other line of descencent starts with Ebenezer again but goes down a different track after the first Lemuel Downs:
Lemuel Downs (1750-98) and Sarah Leavenworth had another son, Lemuel L. Downs (1789-1858) who married Harriet Joy (1794-1875). She was the daughter of David Joy and Hannah Partridge (1757-1830).
Lemuel Harriet's son was David Joy Downs (1813-91) who married Mary Ann Pattison.
Their daughter, Nellie Downs Tillson, born in Marshall, Michigan, married Alonzo Hubert Tillson.
The David Joy who enters the picture here served at the siege of Boston in Capt. Nathaniel Tuttle's company of Massacuhsetts militia. He was born in Rohobeth, Mass, died in Fabius, NY.

BTW, I'm not a relative of any of these people, I'm doing Civil War research for a book and am looking for Hudson Downs, Sarah Taylor, and her father Tom Taylor (also a steamboat pilot).
