My Grandfather Simon Donaghy of Shantonagh, CastleBlayney, passed away 30th July, 1968 aged 84 years. He was married to a MURRAY ( believed Mary ) and together they had 10 children . Mary died after giving birth to the tenth.
Simon as a young man left Eire and worked as a Carpenter in the Copper mines of Bute, Montana, before returning to marry Mary.
They set up home as Farmers at Ballytrain, Shantonagh, where all of their children ,including my Father Edward, "Eddie" was born.
Simon had Brothers:
1. Ned ran a Pub, "The Black Kesh" at Ballybay
and I believe another Brother went to Glaggow, Bells Bridge area, as my Father located their when he first arrived in U.K. as an 18 year old.
My name was changed to the gaellic spelling of "Donohue", by my Father.
