Looking for info on the above. This is the name, occupation and residence of the person named in a paternity case filed in the Sheriff's Court at Riccarton in May,1862 by Anne Allan.
James Dodds was ruled to be the father of an illegitimate child, a daughter, born to Anne Allan on February 14,1862 at Riccarton.
However, on the 1861 census, I find a James Dowds, age 20, listed as a shoemaker residing in Stewarton with parents Patrick and Roseanne. Also at the home are two siblings: Henry, age 20 and ,Hugh, age 9. He was born in Antrim, Ireland in 1841.
Might the James Dodds and James Dowds be one and the same person ?If so, he
would be my gg grandfather.
I have a copy of the Register of Corrected Entries and a copy of the corrected Birth Registration.
Any info or assistance in this would be appreciated
