SANFORD, Florida. -- Clara E. Dircks, 101, Sanford, died Saturday, Aug. 14, 2004, at the Healthcare & Rehab of Sanford.

Services are at the Dudgeon-McCulley Funeral Home, Wapello. The Rev. Kimberly Bowles will officiate. Burial will be at the Letts Cemetery.

Mrs. Dircks was born on Aug. 14, 1903, in Letts, the daughter of Michael and Mary Reaney Blankenhorn. She married Marion Wallace Feldman in 1924. He preceded her in death in 1933. She later married Carl Dircks in 1952. He preceded her in death in 1972.

She graduated from the Letts High School and attended Iowa State University, Ames.

She was a homemaker and had been active in farming. She was of the Methodist faith and enjoyed all kinds of crafts.

Survivors include three sons, Gale Feldman of Casselberry, Fla., Fred Feldman of Burlington and Wallace Feldman of Orange City, Fla.; two grandchildren, Barbara Moore of Winter Park, Fla., and Albert Feldman of Lake Mary, Fla.; five great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; and several step-great-grandchildren; and a stepson-in-law, Channing Gilson of San Diego, Calif.

She was preceded in death by her parents; both husbands; a stepdaughter; a stepson; and a sister.
COLUMBUS JUNCTION, Iowa -- Robert Lawrence Dircks, 80, 1310 Colton St., Columbus Junction, died Wednesday, Jan. 26, 2005, at his home after a brief illness.

The Rev. Catherine Whitlatch will officiate the services. The Cremation Society of Eastern Iowa is handling the arrangements.

Mr. Dircks was born Jan. 31, 1924, in Columbus Junction, the son of Leo F. and Minnie M. Hendrickson Dircks. He married Miriam A. Buster July 31, 1954, in Rock Island, Ill.

He was a traffic studies engineer for Contel Telephone, now Verizon, for 23 years. Prior to that, he was a watchmaker for several years.

He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army Air Corp.

He was a member of United Methodist Church, Columbus Junction, Cedarcrest Country Club, the American Legion and was a Mason. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, playing cards and crossword puzzles. He was an avid Hawkeye and Cardinals fan. He will be fondly remembered for his great sense of humor and his positive outlook on life.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Kenneth Dircks of Iowa City; two daughters, Roberta Meeks and husband Monty of Cedar Rapids and Edgerton, Wis., and Deena Meeks of Marion; two grandsons, Travis Lowe of Cedar Rapids and Nicholas Meeks of Marion; a granddaughter, Emily Meeks of Marion; and a brother, Richard Dircks of Knoxville.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
COLUMBUS JUNCTION, Iowa -- Ruth E. Dircks, 88, Columbus Junction, died Saturday, Aug. 13, 2005, at Colonial Manor Care Center, Columbus Junction.

The Rev. Cathy Whitlatch will officiate. Burial will be at the Columbus City Cemetery. After the burial, a time of food and fellowship will be held at Columbus Junction United Methodist Church.

Memorials may be made to Columbus Junction United Methodist Church.

Mrs. Dircks was born Oct. 25, 1916, in Columbus City, the daughter of Arthur M. and Edith M. Allen Williams. She married Ralph J. Dircks on April 28, 1934, in Illinois. He preceded her in death on Dec. 12, 1994.

She was a telephone operator during World War II. She then worked for Dr. Elmer Groben as an office manager in Columbus Junction for 18 years and in Iowa City for 10 years.

She was a member of Columbus Junction United Methodist Church, a 50-year member of Eastern Star, charter member of Cedar Crest Country Club, past president of Business and Professional Women and was also a member of the Art Guild and Moon Lighters Quartet. She enjoyed painting, for which she won many awards, golfing and raising English Bulldogs.

Survivors include a daughter, Jacquelin G. Scott and husband, James, of Muscatine; two grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and two brothers-in-law, Delbert 'Bud' Jordan of Dubuque and Joe Yarbrough of St. Louis, Mo.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a granddaughter, Yvonne; two brothers, Harry 'Ike' Williams and Frank Richard 'Dick' Williams; and two sisters, Shirley Yarbrough and Patricia Jordan.
