From the 1891 history of Harrison County, Iowa comes the following: "Henry Daywalt (Deywalt) a resident of Little Souix Township, came to Harrison County in 1862. He was born in Franklin county, Pa., august 7, 1825, and is the son of Daniel and Isabella (Stooks) Daywalt, natives of the Keystone State, who reared a family of fifteen children, seven of whom are now (1890) living. Our subject spent his early life in Afams County, Pa., and obtained his education at the common schools, and when he became of age began working at the carpenter's trade and followed that for some time in Pennsylvania and also after he came to Iowa. After coming to Harrison County, he worked on the Henry Herring farm for three years, and then bought the farm he now owns, on section 2 of Little Souix Township. Our subject was united in marriage to Miss Elizabeth Herring, the daughter of Michael and Mary herring, of Pennsylvania, By this marriage union eleven children have been born, six of whom are still living (1890) and are named as follows: David, Samuel, William, Henry, Sarah, Ellen, John C., Nancy, Jane, anna and Margaret. Politically, our subject believes in the principles of the Republican party." Parents of older Henry are buried in Chamberland Hill cemetery in Adams County Pa. you can e mail me at Rev. C.
