YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Funeral services will be held at noon on Thursday at the New Bethel Baptist Church for Eddie Daye, 83, who departed this life Friday, Feb. 24, 2012, at Valley Renaissance Center.
Mr. Daye was born Dec. 23, 1928, in Oxford, N.C., (Granville County) a son of Fred and Sarah Blalock Daye.
He worked for Youngstown Sheet & Tube and retired from LTV Steel. He was a member of the church and its usher board.
He leaves his wife, the former Leola Rivers, whom he married Aug. 14, 1950, a daughter, Delores Nored, a stepdaughter, Linda McCrary and a sister, Susan Daye, all of Youngstown; eight grandchildren, John McCrary Jr. and Lee Anne McCrary, both of Pittsburgh, LaShawn McCrary of Atlanta, Derrick E. (Nicole) Nored, Michael T. (Chithea) Nored, Nicole L. Nored and Kimberly Little, all of Youngstown and Tony Huff of Maryland; 15 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a stepson, Arthur Huff; three sisters, Hazel Wilson, Sarah Bowden and Willa Mae Gupton; two brothers, Fred and Ellis Daye; and a great-grandson, TreVon M. Kimbrough.
Friends may call from 11 a.m. to noon Thursday at the church.
