William DAW/DAWS/ DAWES (b. 1834) was one of many young Cornish men who sailed as bounty emigrants to Sydney, Australia, per the “Herefordshire” arriving 27 May 1857. Farm labourer, CofE, R&W, his father was Benjamin (son of Thomas & Sarah) and mother Catherine Bate/Beat of Kea Parish (Cowlands/Cowlings/Cownance), near Truro, Cornwall. William married Mary Ann Flanagan 1859 at Yass NSW. Siblings remaining in Cornwall comprised Ann (b.1827), George (b.1830, m. Elizabeth Burrows), Ann Elizabeth (b.1831, m. ? Fisher), John (1839), Ellen (1843) and Jane (1846). Contact has been made with a descendant of George. Any other researchers out there?
