WILTON, Iowa -- Guyford G. Daut, 81, Wilton, died Wednesday, Aug. 13, 2003, at his home.
Memorial service at First Presbyterian Church, Wilton. The
Rev. Bruce Giese will officiate. Musical selections will be provided by organist, Sharon Bowers and vocalist, Henry Bentley. Burial will be at Oakdale Cemetery, Wilton. Services are under the direction of the Bentley Funeral Home, Wilton.
Memorials may be made to the First Presbyterian Church, Genesis Hospice or Wilton First Responders.
Mr. Daut was born on July 3, 1922, in Lime City, the son of Vernon and Genevieve Morehouse Daut. He married Marilyn Porter on Sept. 8, 1946, in Anamosa.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
He and his wife owned and operated Daut's Jewelry Store, Wilton, for 27 years, retiring in 1982.
He was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Wilton; a 50-year member of the Wilton Masonic Lodge No. 167 and Purity Chapter OES. He was also a member of the Wilton American Legion No. 584, past president of the Wilton Chamber of Commerce and a charter member of Wahkonsa County Club. He was a past Rainbow Dad.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Sue Erwin and her husband, Stan, of Burlington; and a grandson, Joshua Erwin of Ottumwa.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his stepfather, Ray Handley; and a stepbrother, Jack Handley.
