Yes, in fact, the chateau -- Chateau Beaulieu -- is still standing and is the visual centerpiece of a state rehabilitative hospital outside the village of Chazay d'Azerque, near Lyon. My family passed by on a holiday in France about 3 years ago. Much of the old castle is still evident, but a new facade mansion-like facade was added in, say, the 1700's -- when the de Chiel's left the property was given to another noble family, the name of which I'm sorry but I can't recall, but they deeded it (minus the chapel and a graveyard) to the French government sometime after WW2 -- and there are a chapel, stables and other out buildings. Though there's not much to help one visually make a connection to the de Chiel's, the hospital director was very much aware of the family name and received us in an extremely warm manner and recounted some anecdotal family history. Most interesting was that some de Chiel's had remained behind when Jacques de Chiel emigrated to Scotland (1595 or so), but that the last vestige of the family name was erased when all direct descendants were guillotined in Lyon during the French Revolution. Also, there's a small museum of local history inside the former Abbot's mansion in Chazay d'Azerques. If you're planning a trip some day, that part of France is beautiful, though I was surprised by the Mediterranean look and feeling of the region. The area is justifiably well-known for its red wines and excellent traditional cuisine. If you plan to visit the chateau/hospital it would be very helpful to have someone in your group who has a reasonable command of French, as not very many local people speak any English and I found that even pathetic attempt to speak in French opened lots and lots of doors that I suspect would have remained closed, otherwise. It would be an awfully long way to travel just to see the chateau, but I won't forget my visit there!
