Notes: Antonio D'Angelo. Antonio D'Angelo, 85, long active in Italian cultural and civic affairs here, died last night at Huron Road Hospital.
He had suffered a cerebral hemorrhage a week ago.
Born at Termini Imerese, Italy, Mr. D'Angelo came to this country as a youth of 16. Having served his cobbler's apprenticship in Italy, he opened a shop here.
At one time he operated a chain of seven shoe repair shops and also had several barbershops.
Mr. D'Angelo was a leader in Italian activities and in arranging the annual Columbus Day observance.
He was a member of the Sons of Italy.
His home was at 1859 Woodlawn Avenue, East Cleveland, Ohio. Surviving Mr. D'Angelo are two sons, Joseph of Tiffin, Ohio and Otto of Hialeah, Florida, and four daughters, Mrs. Mary Parrino, Mrs. Rose Palumbo, wife of I. A. (Tony) Palumbo, Plain Dealer advertising make-up man, Mrs. Anna Trivison and Mrs. Antoinette Bifano.
Solemn requiem mass will be offered for Mr. D'Angelo Thursday morning at Holy Rosary Catholic Church.
Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Cleveland, Ohio.
