Interested in contacting anyone who recognizes this family. I have left in all of our family and research notes in case they help anyone else.

First Generation

1. Henry DAGGY.
From Indiana Marriage database online: DAGGY HENRY BUTLER JINCY ANN HENRY 3-1-1832 and

On 1 Mar 1832 Henry first married Jincyann BUTLER, daughter of William BUTLER & Elizabeth Franklin WOODYARD, in Henry County, Indiana. Born on 25 Dec 1810 in Georgia. Jincyann died in Miami County, Indiana in 1845; she was 34.

They had the following children:

2 i. Delena Ellen (1838-1924)

3 ii. Elizabeth Anna (1837-1921)

On 1 Jun 1847 Henry second married Elizabeth BENNETT, in Miami County, Indiana.

Second Generation

2. Delena Ellen DAGGY. Born in Jun 1838 in Perry Township, Miami County, Indiana. Delena Ellen died in Miami County, Indiana in Mar 1924; she was 85.

Found first name with the spelling of Delana Daggey living in the Richland Township of Miami Co., Indiana in 1850 Census. She is listed as age 11 in the household of James & Delana Lockridge along with 7 other children. The list appears to have 3 children with last names different from Lockridge. The census was taken on 17 August 1850. - CAH May 22, 2000. Found the following marriage in the online Indiana marriage index: LOCKRIDGE JAMES A TACKET DELANEY G Miami 1-17-1847 Turns out that this is DelenaÂ’s aunt.

Delena Ellen Daggey, born Pennsylvania is name listed on son HarryÂ’s Registration of Death in 1932. - MH

What I have on Delany Ellen Daggy comes from the Butler Family Book. The following is an excerpt:

Delany Ellen Daggy, daughter of Henry and Jincyann (Butler) Daggy, was born in Perry Township, Miami County, Indiana in June 1838 and died in March 1924. She married Neil McKay. She lived on a farm & died in Miami County, Indiana, and is buried there. She left a large family with many descendants living in Miami County in 1930. In 1974 there were numerous McKays with telephone listings in the Miami County area.

I find it interesting that Delana (Delany) would have been living with the Lockridge family. My gg grandmother had lived with Indians until her marriage to Hiram Clark in 1855. Makes me wonder of the other siblings.

Becky (Hall) Cole

Delena Ellen married Neil McKAY. Born abt 1830 in Scotland.

Name may have been Charles, Henry, Albert or James. We originally used the name as it appeared on the Doris MacDonald Howard family tree which was Charles Johnson Henry McKay. His son HarryÂ’s Registration of Death filled out by a granddaughter gave his name as "Neil" which we are chosing to use. - CAH May 22, 2000. On Registration of Death form for son Harry, his name is listed as "Neil" McKay from Scotland. - MH

His second son was born in Indiana in 1868. In the 1900 Census, HarryÂ’s father was marked as being from Canada not Scotland. - CAH May 22, 2000.

Neil was a twin who fought on the Union side and lived in Indiana and his brother (name unknown) lived in Kentucky and fought on the Confederate side. Doris Howard related this because she recalled the story of a quilt that was in the family and someone talked about the two colors of the cloth came from the two different uniforms of the two brothers, one a grey serge and the other a blue. 1/20/2001

They had the following children:

i. Wilber

ii. John Harry (1868-1932)

iii. Charles

iv. Albert

v. Nell

3. Elizabeth Anna DAGGY. Born on 4 May 1837 in Perry Township, Miami County, Indiana. Elizabeth Anna died in Perry Township, Miami County, Indiana on 26 Sep 1921; she was 84.

Elizabeth Anna first married Hiram G. CLARK.
Elizabeth Anna second married George A. GROVES.
