The Victor Massey CROSSE in Bristol was the son of Samuel Massey CROSSE and Caroline Amelia, born the March qtr of 1856 in the Kensington registration district (RD) of London. He isn't the same one you have born in New Zealand in 1879.
Samuel was born abt 1821 in, he says, Terrington, Cambridgeshire, son of Thomas and Elizabeth CROSSE. He married Caroline Amelia CHEVIN in the March qtr of 1842 in the Marylebone (London) RD.
Samuel and Amelia's eldest son was Samuel Massey CROSSE, b Dec qtr of 1843 in the Leeds (Yorkshire) RD. He died in the Sept qtr of 1877 in Lambeth (Surrey) RD at the age of 31. He seems to have married Emma HARDY in 1871 in the Holbeach (Lincolnshire) RD.
Samuel and Caroline Amelia didn't have a son named Samuel Victor. Their son Samuel isn't the same one you have as Samuel Victor.
However, Samuel's father, Thomas, may have had brothers one of whom might also have been Samuel. Alternatively Thomas may have had a nephew called Samuel who did emigrate to Australia.
Samuel and Caroline's son, Victor (b 1856) did have a son, Samuel Victor but he wasn't born until 1911 so not the one you have.
