I am looking for information on an exceptional Australian war
Veteran who has been lost and forgotten.
Little is known about him, except his name was William Cralley
and for a little information in a a 1918 Ballarat Star
Newspaper Clipping which reads as follows:
UNITED STATES ARMY VETERAN’S PLIGHT
“An old American Civil War veteran named Wm Cralley was charged at the Police Court with having no visible means of support. He had wandered into the police station and had partly lost his memory. He was hungry and had no money though an old age pension book in his possession indicated that six weeks pension was due him. The old man, who was 92 years of age, was remanded pending arrangements to have him placed in an institution.”
This individual was an Australian and a war veteran and has too long been forgotten swept away.
Any help would be appreciated so we can compile a complete
record on him for preservation and acquire a plaque for
James Gray, Cmdr.
