Notes: George D. Crabbs. Cincinnati, Sept. 29 -- (AP) -- George Dent Crabbs, retired chairman of the board of the Philip Carey Manufacturing Co., died today in Harrisonburg, Virginia, according to word received here.
He was taking a vacation at the time.
Mr. Crabbs was president of the Carey Co. 42 years before becoming board chairman.
He was one of the founders of the National Association of Manufacturers in 1895, and was so honored, along with several others, at a golden universary dinner in 1945 in Cincinnati.
He started as a clerk with Philip Care.
He was a director of the Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland, Ohio, the Procter & Gamble Co., the Cincinnati Street Railway Co., the Cincinnati, New Orleans & Texas Pacific Railway Co., Carthage Mills, Inc., the Wheeling Steel Corp., the Robert A. Keasbey Co. and the Cincinnati Gas & Electric Co.
He was instrumental in bringing about the construction of the Cincinnati Union Terminal and had a leading role in bringing about the working agreement between seven railroads that made the terminal possible.
