CONESVILLE, Iowa -- Dorothy F. Conaway, 75, Conesville, died Wednesday, May 12, 2004, at Mercy Hospital, Iowa City.
Services are at the Stacy-Lewis Funeral Home, Columbus Junction. The Rev. Betsey Neipert will officiate.
Mrs. Conaway was born March 4, 1929, in Dexter, Minn., the daughter of Harvey R. and Dorothy Holcomb Knowler. She married Robert Eugene 'Turk' Conaway Sept. 17, 1955, in Muscatine.
She was a resident of the area since 1951. She enjoyed gardening and traveling with her sisters with whom she was very close. She was a homemaker all her adult life and enjoyed taking care of her family.
Survivors include her husband; four daughters, Linda Lou Bartlett and husband, Brad, of Ottumwa, Sherry Stewart and husband, Dale, of Morning Sun, Doreen Macias and husband, Joe, and Kay Gartzke and husband, Herb, all of Conesville; four sons, Robert Stanton and wife, Peggy, of Joplin, Mo., Steve Stanton and wife, Rhonda, of Washington, Mark Conaway and wife, Kaye, of Muscatine and Jack Conaway and wife, Cameron, of Wapello; 25 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and four sisters, Velma Chandler of Barnes City, Donna Hughes of Gibson, Marion Playle of Barnes City and Connie Mullenburg of New Sharon.
She was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters, Violet, Lou and Sandra; two brothers, Walt and Jack; and a great-grandson, Brandon.
