You said Henry Reybold 1840-1862 was killed in Wilmington during the Civil War; was he a Confederate soldier? My grandfather's cousin (another Beulah Reybold Compton!) sent me some info years ago from a booabout the Reybold family. According to what I read, the Reybolds were known as the "biggest slave-owners in Wilmington" and supported the Confederacy. I am 99.999% certain that Edwin Augustus Compton 1838-1888 (Beulah Compton Reybold's little brother) fought for or otherwise supported the Confederacy and this was the cause of the big falling out between him and his mother (who was a strict Quaker). I also read that the bell on the side wheeler "William Reybold" had been made from the Reybold family silver. Have you ever seen an engraving of this boat?
