Surnames: Chiasson, Giasson, Lavalee, Belliveau, Bernard, Martin, Savoie, Savoy, Belou, Blou, Doucet, Doucette, Arsenault, Arseneau, Hache, Ache, Gallant, Boudreau, Boudrot, Burke, Bourg, Bourk, Bourque, Daigre, Daigle
Here I go...

My earliest ancestor to Acadia was Guyon(Dion,Denis) Giasson dit Lavalee. He married Marie Belliveau, Jeanne Bernard, and Marie Madeleine Martin. Are any of these women Native?
My next generation is Gabriel Giasson who married Marie Savoie. Also, Gabriels brother Sebastien who married Marie Belou. Are either of those girls Native?
Next generation is Francois son of Gabriel and Marie. Francois married Anne Doucette. Is she native? Sebastien and Marie Belou's son Jacques married Marie Josephete Arseneault is she Native?
Francois and Ann had a daughter Ann and she married Louis Hache dit Gallant. Is he native? Jacques and Josete had a son Paul and he married Marie Louise Boudreau. Is she Native? Anne and Louis Gallant had a daughter Anastasie and she married Francois Doucette. Was he Native? Paul and LOuise Chiasson had a son Lamand but his wifes last name is one I do not know, by any chance is he listed in your book? Lamands wifes first name was Rose. They went on to have David and he married Sophie Burke. I am not sure of her parents yet.

Anastasie and Francois Doucette had a son Fabien and he married Henriette Gallant. Are any of the Gallants Native? Henriette and Fabien had a Joseph who married Judithe Gallant. They had Felix who married Margaret Daigre. Felix and Margaret had Florence who married Peter Burke. I don't know if Daigre's (Deagle) or the Burkes are of any Native blood either.

Peter BUrke and Florence Doucette had Mary Louise who married William Chaisson. They are my grandmother and grandfather. Paternal side. My grandmother was dark complected. My sister is and some of my first cousins certainly are. It seems like a trait passed on. They tan so dark and their coloring is so different. They all stick out in each family.

I realize this is many names and many questions. I just would love to know if any of these names were originally native peoples given christian names by the missionary priests of the day. I really hope you can help me and solve some of my mysteries!
Thanks for writing to me. I didn't discover your note to me until tonight.
Thanks again,
Louise
