I don't know how DNA proves a given name but I know by a marriage record that my Great grandfather James Maston Carroll married Minerva L. Carroll. Death records from 2 children indicate my James married an Elizabeth Morgan. My DNA indicated a Joseph Morgan was one of my ancestors. Joseph had a sister Minerva L. who married James Maston Carroll. Therefore, although my great grandmother was called Elizabeth, obviously, she was the same person as Minerva L. My goals are: to discover why she went by the name Elizabeth and also to determine when both she and husband James died plus where they are buried.
