Hazleton Standard Speaker
John Paul Cannon, 58, of Cocoa Beach, Fla., a Kennedy Space Center administrator, died Feb. 18 at his home.
Born in Hazleton, he was the son of the late Paul and Anna (Campbell) Cannon.
He moved to Brevard County in 1991 from Great Falls, Va.
He graduated from the University of Notre Dame with a bachelor of science degee. At Notre Dame, he was in the glee club and was a baritone in a jazz quartet.
An army veteran, he continued his love of singing in the All Army Chorus and traveled throughout Europe with the group.
He began work with the federal government at the beginning of the Nixon administration in 1969.
Cannon worked for several agencies, including the Bureau of Indian Affairs and the agency now known as FEMA.
He worked mainly as an administrator for the federal government. His most recent position was administrator for the General Services Administration at Kennedy Space Center.
He was a member of Church of Our Saviour.
Surviving are his wife, Martha; sons, Sean and Kevin, both of Richmond, VA.; and brother, Hugh, Oakton, VA.
Interment was in Atlas Crematory. The Beckman-Williamson Funeral Home handled the arrangements.
