In the name of God Amen, I Richard Canaday of Carteret County (NC), being in a low state of health but of sound and disposing mind...To my son Cornelius Canaday, one negro woman named Abigail and a negro boy named West. I give to my grandson Richard Canaday a negro boy named Church. I give to my daughter, Magdalene Garner a negro boy named Fenderson. I give to my daughter Rebecca Bell a negro boy named Moses. The remainder of my estate not given away is to be divided into seven parts to those named: Jane Cully, Magdalene Garner, Catherine Canaday, Betsy Cully, Johanna Bell, and Rebecca Bell, Cornelius Canaday. Son Cornelius Canaday to be executor.

Joseph and Thomas (brothers) and their Canaday brides migrated to Posey County, IN. There are several other Carteret County families who migrated to Posey County, IN.
