The Hon. Ross Campbell, a judge of the Superior Court of Sonoma county, and for many years one of the ranking members of the bar in this section of California, former city attorney for the municipality of Santa Rosa and former assistant district attorney for Sonoma county, is a native of Missouri but has been a residence of California since the days of his boyhood. He is the son of the Hon. John Tyler Campbell, one of Santa Rosa’s best loved citizens and concerning whom further and fitting mention is made elsewhere in this work, the attention of the reader been respectfully directed to the biographical sketch of the older Campbell for details regarding the camel family.

Ross Campbell was but four years of age when his father came here from Missouri and establish his home in Santa Rosa had when and he thus acquired his early education in the public schools of Santa Rosa, supplementing this by a period of attendance at the Pacific Methodist College at San Rosa, following which he entered the law school of Harvard University at Cambridge, Massachusetts, where he received his legal education. He then returned to San Rosa and after year of practice there established himself in practice in Woodland,Yolo County. The situation there did not appeal to him and he presently returned to San arose a but not long afterward set up in practice at San Francisco, where he remained for six years. In 1902 he returned to Santa Rosa and has since been a resident of that city. In 1904 he was elected city attorney for the city of Santa Rosa and during this time of this country's participation in the World War rendered public service as assistant district attorney, have an expected appointment to snafus to let younger man out for war service. His other lodge affiliations include connection with the bill of the Benevolent Protective Order of Elks, he being exalted ruler of the Santa Rosa Lodge No. 646; the Loyal Order of Moose and theUnited ancient Order of troops, of which he is a pass a noble or. He is a member of the California State Bar Association and of the Sonoma County Bar Association and in the deliberations of these bodies has long taken an earnest interest. The judge has taken a good citizen’s Part in general civil affairs and was for some time a member of the republican state central committee.
In 1917 Judge Ross Campbell was united in marriage to Mrs. Edith McNutt Tennant of the city of Sebastopol,, in this county. Judge and Mrs. Campbell have a pleasant home in Santa Rosa and are helpful in all proper ways in promoting the general social and cultural activities of the community in which they both very naturally take deep and abiding interest.
