Tracey,
Pretty much the same here, I didn't think there were very many Cabler's in the world. Had never heard the name except through my mother, who was raised by her grandfather, Frederick Hensley Cabler in Arkansas. According to the information I have, he was b. 1832 or 1837 in Nashville, TN. He d. 1922 and is buried in Witherspoon Cemetery at Vandervoort, Polk Co.?, Arkansas. I think my mother said he had two brothers, one named Ab.. (Abner ?), and another named Nick (Nicholas ?) and one sister Rachel. I assume all were born in or around Nashville, but don't know.
I was born and lived in the Ft. Worth area until about 1974 when I went overseas to work. When I came back in 1979, I came to New Orleans and have been in this area ever since.
From what I think, the spelling may have been Cobler/Cabler/Kobler, according to who was writing it.
I'd like to know more about your family, perhaps you are related to one of those I mentioned.
