Hi all, most of the posts I have seen for black Bynum family seem to be Ark. or Tx. but I am seeking family of Margaret Bynum abt. 1834 (perhaps a married name from 1st marriage) and Horace Bynum. Horace's (abt. 1841) death record listed his parents as Manuel Bynum and Margrett Davis. Margaret Bynum was my 3x great grandmother and was married to John Davis. They appear in the 1870-1910 censuses in Oswichee, Russell County, Alabama. Her death record on ancestry does not list parents or any other information. Horace appears a couple of houses down in the 1870 census. He appears to have had two children Lewis (abt.1877) from 1st marriage to Rhoda and Mary (abt. 1894) from 2nd marriage to Amie. I cannot locate any other Bynums who routinely come into contact with the family. On the 1880 census Margaret listed her father as born in Florida and mother as born in Maryland but all other censuses list Alabama as birth for both. They are never listed as Mulatto so the assumption is that they were enslaved. If anyone can offer any assistance for this Alabama family I would greatly appreciate it.
