LAS VEGAS – Patricia “Pat” J. Brooks, 77, formerly of Youngstown, Ohio (Mahoning County) died May 29, 2014, after an extended illness.
Born May 26, 1937, in Youngstown, Patricia was the daughter of Frank Davis and Eileen Lukanec (Whalen).
In January of 1958, Pat married her childhood sweetheart, Raymond “Ray” L. Brooks, who became deceased Dec. 4, 1997.
Pat leaves her two daughters, Susan Gerace and Laurie Haas (Dan O’Donnell), both of Las Vegas; a granddaughter, Nicole Haas (David Barton); great-granddaughter, Raelynn Barton of North Carolina; sisters, Marlene Bailey and Michelle (Bill) Baird of Youngstown, OH; brothers, Dan (Joy) Lukanec and Pete Lukanec of Youngstown; nieces and nephews; and a host of long-time friends.
No services are planned.
In 1979, Pat and Ray moved to Phoenix, where as a teacher’s assistant, Pat brought the joy of teaching to developmentally challenged children.
Upon Ray’s retirement as a sheet metal worker, Pat retired and together they moved to Topock, Ariz., where they enjoyed fishing and hunting.
Some of their favorite times were spent camping in the summer with their granddaughter. Those friends that loved them both would say Pat could out-fish Ray, but of course Ray disagreed and no one was willing to argue with him.
In later years, Pat moved to Las Vegas to be closer to her family and enjoyed traveling with her daughters and granddaughter. She will be missed by the many that loved her.
