Yes Debbie--that is my GGrandfather. His oldest son, James E. Bratt, JR. is my grandfather on my dad's side. From what my dad tells (he heard from his mother) is that (depression and alcoholism run in that family, as well as emotional/physical abuse by the Bratt men). me--he was institutionalized at one time, adn no one ever spoke of him again. I guess back then, it was a shameful thing, and kids were allowed to think of their father os being dead, as it was better than knowing he was "committed". I understand that he got out of the institution, but never returned to his family, and was never spoke of---very strange!

Anyhow--his father is DAn Bratt, born 1877. YOu can find him on the 1880 census as dan bratt, with his parents....I have them all the way back to when Thomas Bratt came over from trying ot trace the England line, but know luck. I have found the passenger list, butnothing to go on really. I can send you what i have if you would like.
