Surnames: Brady, Tanner, Simmons, Fletcher
My 3rd great-grandfather was Jesse Brady born around 1790-1800 in North Carolina. He married Easter Tanner September 13, 1816 in Rutherford County, North Carolina. His son was John Wesley Brady who married Susannah Simmons. John Wesley was a farmer and then became a preacher. He joined the Confederate Army and his appointment as Chaplain came through the day after his death, in the battle of Resaca.

Jane Miles, a researcher in my family line, says they had six children. One son was William Simmons Brady born July 29, 1853, probably in Dawson county. W. S. Brady died Oct. 9, 1922. I do not have any information about his descendents but I thought I would pass along the information. I know Easter Tanner's ancestors (to a certain extent) but have no further information on Jesse Brady's. We think there is a Cherokee link in this family. Jesse had a brother named "Indian" John Brady.

Jesse Brady and Easter Tanner also had two known daughters, Sarah Brady and Mira Brady. Mira married John Nelson Fletcher, in Lumpkin Co., Ga in 1846, she was born in 1821 in NC and her husband was born in 1821 in NC. The above mentioned lived in Cherokee County, GA -- which later became parts of Dawson, Lumpkin and Pickens Counties. I am descended from Mira Brady and J.N. Fletcher through their son Hezikiah Kelly Fletcher.
