Rick from Pawn Stars (the History Channel) on its new episode this week purchased a commission that Abel recieved from John Hancock (Gov of Mass) making him a captain in 1787. Abel was a minute man from Massachusetts, who served under Captain Oliver Bates in 1775, and if I understood expert Dana Linett correctly, was there at Lexington and Concord for the 'shot heard 'round the world'. I know Abel served during Bunker Hill, and may have been with the Foriegn Service (if it's the same Abel Boynton) to Curacao Island from 1816-17. Captain Bates was from Westford, Middlesex, Mass., and the minutemen were of Middlesex. That's all I know; but I'm sure there's more interesting info regarding Abel.

The Commission is beautifully framed, and has John Hancocks signature and his sectretary John Avery. The document was appraised at $10-15,000, and Rick made the purchase at around $5,000.
