Now...here is what may be the problem with you finding your roots. In 1685, king Louis XIV revoked the Edict of Nantes.
many of the Baudouin family moved to other places to avoid death because they were Huguenots. the families soght refuge in Prussia, anouther established themselves in the Low Lands, and the third branch in England, Pierre Baudouin was the branch that came to what became America. All the people who are "Bowdoin" are related to this family. The Hebri Auguste Baudouin was in Germany and his title was that he was from Noue. He lived around 1710-1800.
