After the close of the Revolutionary War, brothers REV. JOEL and REV.JOHN BLACKWELL settled in the Green Creen Creek area of what was then Rutherford County and were instrumental in the organization of the Broad River Baptist Association in which they both served.
It is said that REV. JOEL BLACKWELL died in 1842 and is buried near Cherokee Ford on Broad River in Gaffney, South Carolina, and at some point in time the Broad River Baptist Association erected an inscribed tombstone at his grave in his memory.
Does anyone know how to get to this REV. JOEL BLACKWELL'S grave site and what is the inscription on his tombstone?
