Agnes Bixler Kurtz, in “John Bixler, 1700-1765, pg 95 in referring to children of Christian BIXLER (1750-1826)and Barbara, says...Catherine (32) married John STREVIG and had one son, William BIXLER STREVIG (358) She then married Henry Moyer...”

My great great great grandmother is Margaretta BIXLER who married John STRIEBIG/ STREAVY/STREWIG/ STREVICH / STREVIG, b 20 June 1793 in Baltimore Co MD (now the Lineboro, Carroll Co area) son of Johannes/John STREVIG 1763-1844.
Chancery Records list John Strevig’s children as Henry B, Mary A, Ephraim, Elizabeth Bucher, Ann Peterman, Sarah Stonesifer, Polly Lammott, William of York Co, John of York Co, Lydia, and Edward of Hanover.

Our family notes give Margaretta’s dates as 30 Jan 1799 to 27 April 1853 .

Carroll County Cemeteries show Margaret Streig, 1-10-1793 to 4-27-1847 buried next to John Strewig 6-20-1793 to 8-16-1860. John H LA MOTTE and Mary E (Polly) Strevig LA MOTTE (my great great grandparents) are next to them.

The death date of 1847 for Margaretta makes no sense to me, as she shows up in the 1850 census, being the right age to have been born in 1799.

1850 Maryland Census, Carroll County, district #6, roll 289, p. 342
John Strevich, age 58, r.e.=3000, b. Md
----Margaret, age 50, b. Md
----Mary A, age 20, b. Md
----John, age 16, attended school within year
----Polly, age 13, attended school within year
----Ephraim, age 11, attended school within year
----Lydia, age 9, attended school within year
----Edward, age 7

So who is Margaretta BIXLER? She is not mentioned in Christian’s will (1824). Is she Catherine? or Rebecca? (only daughters mentioned in will) Or someone else all together? She certainly was in the right geographical area.

Thanks to anyone who can shed some light on this!
