I am looking for any info I might find relating to the Belcher Brothers of NYC who had a rule making business in NYC during the 1820's through mid to late 1870s. They were three brothers - Thomas, William & Charles. They appear to have emigrated from Sheffield England where they may be related to the rulemaker Zachariah Belcher.
My GGGgrandfather Henry Smith and his brother Edwin Smith worked for the Belcher Brothers most of their lives. Henry left NYC in the late 1830s with one of the brothers to start a manufacturing plant in Camptown (now Irvington) NJ. The rulers continued to be sold in NYC. I have researched a bit of info on these Belchers as part of my research on my GGGgrandfather and would love to make contact with one of their descendants to share it with them as well as see if there is any info they might have that would help me.
