Hello, I am reaearching Patrick BEAHAN b.c1787 Co. Wicklow IRE-d.1868 NSW Australia. Arrived Sydney 16.2.1813 as guest of the Government for 7 years on "Archduke Charles".
He was married in IRE to Mary b.c1785 and had ??two kinder, being Thomas b.c1810 Dublin City IRE-d.1867 New South Wales and Alicia b.c1812 IRE.
Thomas arrived Oz 1823 also as a convict, 7yrs. on "Medina" and was asigned to his father Patrick in the district of Evan (Penrith). (Pulled a birth date from a book for Thomas as being c.1805, but it is more likely that he was born more around 1810 as this date works with family oral history that a Grandfather of my Mother's Grandfather (still with me?) came to Australia by himself when he was 13 years old. Could Thomas or officials have put Thomas' age up so that he wasn't sent to specific areas designated for children ie. Van Deiman's Land, so that he could be in the same State or area as his father. Seems a strange co-incidence that he was assigned to his father if there was no official intervention.)
Wife Mary & Alicia came 11.5.1825 on "Thames". (Presumably under the family relocation scheme, where convicts' families were given the opportunity to rejoin their transported family member/s.)
In 1828 census only these four family members were living at the same house. Have still to track more children born in Australia.
Thomas married St Marys Cathedral RC, Sydney NSW 30.10.1829 to Esther (nee BURN)LEAVERS b.1804 Cork IRE-d.1861 NSW Oz.
Esther d/o James (John) BURN & Eleanor NEAL came as convict's child 2.7.1811 "Providence". Issue: Thomas; John; Margaret; Andrew; Patrick; Timothy; Michael. Esther had been married 14.2.1820 at St Johns CofE Parramatta NSW, to James LEAVERS GS 11.3.1803 "Glatton" b.c1778 Sudbury Suffolk UK-d.11.5.1829 NSW and had 5 children: Elizabeth; Mary Ann; Eleanor; Esther; William.
Alicia married 1833 to John GOUGH.
