David S. Bay, 92 of Cumberland, Ohio (Guernsey County) passed away peacefully at his residence at 12:41 pm, Monday, December 16, 2013.

David was born October 23, 1921, in Hanover, OHIO (Licking County) the son of the late Rev. Howard T. and Mary Lucille (Ledman) Bay.

He was the 5th generation dairy farmer of Bay Farm; an 81 year member of the Buffalo Presbyterian Church in Cumberland, Ohio where he served as an elder, taught Sunday School and was a member of the choir.

He was a member of the F&AM Point Pleasant Lodge #0360, served on the County School Board for 12 years, a member of the Guernsey County Fair Board for 35 years, served on the Soil and Water Conservation Board for 27 years, a 4-H advisor for 25 years, a Spencer Township Trustee for 20 years, a member of the Ohio Jersey Breeders Association, a member of the Farm Bureau of Guernsey County, OH.

He graduated from the Cumberland High School in 1939 and he attended Ohio State University.

David is survived by his wife of 69 years Rosemary (Gibbs) Bay whom he married November 10, 1944; his son Ed (Karen) Bay of Cumberland, Ohio; two brothers Robert Bay of Delta OH and John (Barbara) Bay of Wilmington, OH; a sister Elizabeth McGrew of Lucas, OHIO; two granddaughters, Allison Bay currently serving in the US Peace Corps in the Philippines and Emily Bay a senior at Muskingum University; and a 'son of his heart' Jerry (Judy) Thompson.

In addition to his parents, David is preceded in death by his brother James E. Bay; a sister Margaret Betzel; and his granddaughter Jamie Cope-Cowger.

Memorial Contributions may be made to Buffalo Presbyterian Church, 302 W Main St, Cumberland, OH 43732 or to the charity of your choice .

Visitations will be 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm on Thursday, December 19, 2013, at the Buffalo Presbyterian Church in Cumberland, Ohio where funeral services will be 11 am Friday with Rev. Jim Gibson and Pastor Bill Briggs officiating.

He will be laid to rest in the Cumberland Cemetery, Cumberland, Ohio.

The Farus Funeral Home of Cumberland is entrusted with arrangements.
