Hi J-----,

Please see my post to Al. I hope he's well. I believe he's in his 80's. Your mention of Aunt Ida brought back the most wonderful smell of that Easter twisted egg bread, the cookies and those beautiful, huge childhood meals at Grandpa Leo and Grandma Ernestine's big green 24th street house next to Uncle Tony's. If you remember, Ernestine always wore a large key chain with a key to every room in that big house.

On school break, I was one who used a torch to melt the ice on the yard switches and retire to the shanty until it re-froze, only to do it over and over again. That's why the railroads went broke.

I recently retired from Palo Alto CA to the state of Washington. A few years back, one of my engineers brought me to a pizzaria in Sunnyvale CA, owned by two brothers who went to Niagara Catholic with my brother, Fran. I was intro'd to an elderly California man who originally worked for the NY Central RR. At first he seemed to grunt and ignore me. Later he quietly came over to the table and told me he'd worked for Grandpa Leo on the railroad and said Leo was one of the most wonderful and generous people he had ever known.

Small World.

Thanks for the memories,

Ron
